Well, that was the end of July, which means its time for another dump

And this was done because I had never done a self caricature at work

My Dad

I’ve been promising my parents a caricature for a while now. Mostly because I’ve only ever caricatured them in that Christmas Present in 2007, and at the beginning of last summer for practice, and well, those were done when I sucked at least 10x more than my current suck.

Anyways, I grabbed a clipboard and sketched my Dad. I wish I had a foamie handy.

Self Portrait

I did this as a quick little exercise. Once again, I was inspired by the practices of some friends of mine.

Lots of stuff needs to be worked on, plus I think I overworked it (waaaay to easy to do with traditional paints). But for the first time picking these paints up again, I feel pretty good with it.

11 Second Club

Hey look! Its the summer, but Im still animating! Yeah, I took time through June to put together an entry into the 11 Second Club. Considering the amount of time I was about to put into it, Im actually pretty happy with how it turned out. And after voting finished, I was 41st out of 137, which is better than where I expected.

Its about a big guy who’s now blaming the people who have given him the food his whole life.

Thats another month down

This girl was a walking Ollie caricature. Therefore I tried to do one inspired by him.

I realised halfway through this dance drawing I was subliminally referencing one of my buddy Jay’s drawings, so this one goes out to you Turtle Jay.

Drawin’ Funny People

So, im not sure if I’ve mentioned that I’ve been working at Wonderland again this summer (im too lazy to go read through my older posts…), but thats where I’ve been spending some of my time lately.

I get to draw people in funny ways, and they pay me for it. How awesome is that?

Anyways, here’s a selection of some of those funny looking people. Unfortunately my Camera is a bit too large and cumbersome for me to bring out everytime I do a drawing I like. Im getting a new phone with a Camera that I can actually use for this soon, suggested by my friends. So these are really only the best that I could actually take a moment to hold onto them long enough to take a photo of them

Back to the Doctor

Went to Doctor Sketchys once again tonight, it was fun and interesting.

That last drawing was a challenge to draw him as a creature from a fairytale.

Music to Draw to…

So I went to the “Music to Draw to…” event at The Central hosted by Kid Koala. I had a great time, wonderful atmosphere, and absolutely jam packed with artists and creativity.

The Zoo

I went to the Zoo today with a group of other caricaturists from Wonderland. Had alot of fun, definately heading back there again.

Sketch Jam!

Went to the Sketch Jam on sunday, I had tons of fun. Great drawing, great people, lots of beer. Pretty much sums up my equation for joy. The plan was to hold the jam at St. Lawrence Market, but pretty much by the time I got there everyone had seemingly splintered away all over downtown. I did find a few fellow sketchers, drew a bit, walked to The Eatons Centre, and found some more sketchers. After I was there for a bit we went to the pub. This time it was at The Flatiron and Firkin. The rest need not be explained.

Oh, I also bought a new sketchbook for this event. Im enjoying it quite a bit.
