Hey guys!

Holy crap, Matt isn’t dead…

Yeah, yeah, I know, It’s been a while since I’ve updated anything here. Sorry about that.

I can promise you that I HAVE been animating, and I have proof tonight. I animated this little piece for a competition held over at http://www.animationrigs.com/. I gave it a shot mostly with the intention of bolstering my demo-reel, and what I ended up with is something I’m pretty pleased with. I finished tied for 9th place (Honestly there were some very impressive turn-outs, 9th is something Im happy with) and some fairly positive feedback on it.

Worked on this here and there after work through April. The rigs were supplied by Animationrigs.com and they were a requirement for the competition.

What do you guys think?

Went to check out an open life drawing session that was operating fairly close to the studio. I have to say, it still feels good to be back at this.

Wow. 5 months. It has been 5 whole months since the last time I did any sort of life drawing, and I sure felt it. After weeks of scolding myself for not doing more, I finally made it down to the TSA today to do some figure drawing. I sucked. I loved it. The quality of drawings turned out today may not be what I had before, but since I plan on making this a weekly thing, the control and speed will return.

Its good to be back.

Trying to scribble these out while at work is really challenging. How people manage to finish these in a presentable manner is like magic to me.

Real quick update here.

I was just watching something on youtube, real cool, I’ll have it embedded at the bottom. Anyways, a couple minutes in, I start watching this guy. The way he was standing there, body language, grooving to the music, it came on me pretty quickly that he would be a pretty dang cool character to draw.

So I did.

Here are some sketches from the park over the last while that have been building up in my phone.

The first four are from well over a month ago. The last four are people you may recognize: Dani Woods, “Buzz Lightyear” Juan, everyones favourite boss; Lorenzo and Jenn Hughes (again :))

I was at Dr. Sketchys again yesterday. It was a real blast. I found Andrea, Dylan, and Noam there, and Im sure they’ll all agree that this guys face made everything AWESOME. Not only was it made to make caricaturists happy, but he also managed to pull it into amazing expressions, AND HELD THEM. Add to that the fact that they put on a very entertaining and funny show, I couldnt be happier with last nights event.

Keyhole Session

So I went with my buddy Ed after work on Tuesday, and Visited a Keyhole Session for my first time. They’re basically fairly similar to the Dr. Sketchys events I go to occasionally, but instead of Burlesque, its pretty much just plain sexually themed, with a nice mix of kink thrown in.
