So I start school again in about 12 hours. Im so psyched for this. 2nd year is going to rock, I cant wait to get back to drawing so much, I slacked off too much this summer.

I promise to update more often when im back… I hope.

In other news I decided last night I wanted a new avatar for my DeviantArt page. I sat down around 11 to start animating the thing, and finished at about 1 with this:

I fixed the volume problems in the hat, along with the tracking for the arms after that. Then things got frustrating. Working with an animation at a 50×50 pixel size is really annoying. I spent all day today colouring every drawing pixel by pixel, since colouring it in any other way at such a small size wouldnt work. All effing day. And then when I put it back together I found that going to such a small size distorted some of the shapes, and even worse it plays out at such a slow speed. I set each frame to its fastest speed and it still fucks up.

Over all, im feeling alright with how the line test turned out, but pissed off with the avatar, and I’ll just keep my old one until I figure out something new for it.

Ok, i’ve been a bad boy. I haven’t been practicing nearly enough life drawing all summer. I finished school 3 months ago, and yesterday was only my 2nd time back at the school doing a full session of Life drawing (I went another two times as well, but they turned out to be busts).
The lack of practice stuck out like a sore thumb. Damn it hurt. But im glad I went. I just hope I can make it again before we get back to school.

Ok, its been a while since i’ve posted… Sorry.
I’ve been really busy lately with work (Im still at wonderland doing caricatures, but I’ve also started working at a Metal Packaging plant that my dad works at. Shittiest job ever, but it pays really well), so I havent had much time lately, or inspiration to begin with, for drawing…
Well, finally the other day the creativity juice started flowing again. Hell for 6 hours during one of my shifts at the plant, all I could think about was drawing. It felt good.
I did a couple fan arts, one of which is right here:
I’ve been a pretty big fan of The Venture Bros since it first showed up. In my opinion one of the very few shows that runs during the Detour on Teletoon (thats the Canuck version of Adult Swim for any of you non-Canadian folks) thats actually GOOD.

I’ve also been practicing my character design work lately. I still need a ton of work on that, but im feeling much more comfortable with it as time goes on.

Another thing I’ve been doing on my spare time now is animating again. Feels so damn good. I built an entire animation desk here in my room. Took a drafting table i had, cut a hole in it, strapped a light box I had under the whole, and dropped in my animation disk. Ta-da! Brand new animation desk. Set up a line tester next to it, and I’ve got a nice set up here.
Just now I finished a quick bit of practice. Just a simple girl using a Hula-hoop. I think maybe two hours of work… (I hate, hate, HATE the hula hoop itself… But i know whats wrong with it, and it was the least of my concerns for this thing… So i just ignore it… You should too haha)

Well, I finally got my animations onto my computer. That was one long as hell process. And with 450 frames (280 or so drawings, some were shot on ones) in total, getting my final onto the computer was a daunting task. Oh well, they’re done now.
Unfortunately, only two of them worked on Youtube for some reason, the rest are unable to be converted once uploaded. Thankfully at least my final does work, so I can show that off to you guys now.
The assignment was to take a randomly assigned object, and make a flour sac do something with it, as well as a couple other things. I drew the purse. Deciding this wasnt enough of a challenge, I added a wig as well. Things got interesting from there.

I only wish my fat jump would work on Youtube, Im almost as happy with that one as I am with my Final.

A couple friends wanted to see what kind of stuff I’ve been doing lately at Wonderland. Unfortunately, these two are the only two I could find around the house. They’re a couple of Demos i did to try and draw in business.

I finally decided to go visit a Dr. Sketchy’s event this Monday. It was definitely a lot of fun. Cool music, cool people, and the best part was the originality of the model.
A) She was pregnant. Totally cool.
B) Yes, that first set she was wearing rollerblades and everything. Yes, that second set she was wearing a paper bag over her face. And Yes, in that last set she was wearing metal underwear.

Well, summer has been treating me pretty well so far. I’ve been working at Wonderland doing caricatures these last couple weekends. Its pretty fun, as well as pretty rewarding, though not very much money-wise. I can feel im already learning tons through it. With that said, if anybody wants me to do a caricature for them, just ask!
In other news, I went back for some life drawing for the first time this summer. It felt pretty good, since I haven’t done any for almost a month. I hope to keep this up.

I guess I’ll share my Jekyll to Hyde Project. I figure’d I wanted to make Dr. Jekyll a tiny dude who always wanted to be bigger, to stand up to all those who looked down on him. Problem was, he ended up getting “bigger” in the wrong way. He grew and grew until: *POP!* Just like a balloon filled with gore.

Man, its felt so good lately to have some time off once again. I get to sleep in! Woo! I haven’t gotten any personal projects started yet… But that’ll come.

The good news is that I was lucky enough to find a job already. Im working at Wonderland now, doing charicatures for a living. Im really happy I actually found a job around drawing. Sure, it doesnt pay much, but im really loving the experience im going to be getting from all this. I can already see improvement.

As for other things, Im pretty sure I’ll be getting back to life drawing very soon, so I’ll be sure to keep that part up to date. And my plan to get all my old animations onto the computer has taken a bit of a detour. The current setup takes ages to get all the frames in order on my computer, but it’s slowly getting all there. I should have all of them here pretty soon.
