Some more figure sketching

Since my trip to Ottawa, I’ve pretty much been in a cycle of trying to get my work schedule caught up to a point where Im not doing most of it the night before, and actually get some free time. Thanks to that, I havent had much time for figure drawing over the last few weeks. But in the last couple weeks I have finally managed to squeeze it back in, and now its looking even better for this coming week.

That rust sets in quickly!

I made my annual trip to the Royal Winter Fair today. I loved the event like I do every year. Every time I go to something like this I realise I need to draw animals so much more than I do. Heres a sampling of what I drew today.

So I finally got the inspiration needed to finally do a digital painting. I havent done a proper digital painting in ages (the last one I posted anywhere was back in Feb 2008). I generally dont bother much with digital painting because I have this feeling that in our generation, the world is over-populated with digital painters, or at least trying to be a digital painter. So I tend to focus my attention on getting better at other aspects of art, since the world is already so full of really really impressive digital painters. I know this is a bad way of thinking, but its just how I see things.

At least I tried it again, right?

Life Drawings from week 4

Went to Dr. Sketchys for the second event in a row. Thats a record for me! I always have tons of fun there. I drew that one guy before it started.

So I bought a Moleskine the other day, and so far I actually really enjoy sketching in it. I ended up doing a few Fan Art sketches, something I dont really do very often at all. I did one of Coraline, and two more from Venture Bros.
